Hiking in life

I love my mountain top views!

Hiking always seems like a good idea. Then half way through the hike you begin to wonder what on earth you are doing. You get tunnel vision almost, just concentrating on placing one foot in front of the other. I like to stop every now and again to have a look around. Too look back and see how far I have come and look forwards to see where I am aiming to reach. Then there is the exhilarating feeling you get when you reach the summit and sit with your celebration chocolate bar soaking up the views.

Hiking is a lot like life. You start off on a journey towards a destination full of enthusiasm and inspiration. Half way along the journey you begin to find struggles, hurdles, complications which need to be navigated. Every now and again it helps to stop and acknowledge how far you have come and to review the goal you are aiming to reach. Remind yourself why you started this path in the first place. Then when you reach the summit of your goal you can relax for a while and enjoy your reward.

Where will you hike to next?
